About Clan Davidson
Clan Davidson is a Highland clan of uncertain origin, generally linked to the Clan Chattan confederation. One tradition, recorded in the Kinrara manuscript, traces the Davidsons to David Dubh of the Comyns, said to have married a daughter of the Mackintosh chief; after the Comyn name was proscribed in 1320, his followers became known as Clan Dhai. The clan's early history was marked by tragedy at the 1370 Battle of Invernahavon, where Davidsons were recorded as wiped out as a fighting force after the Macphersons left the field in a dispute over precedence
