About Clan Grierson
The Grierson name is believed to derive from the personal name Gregor. In about 1408 the family acquired the lands of Lag in Dumfriesshire, which became the principal seat of the chiefs. The Griersons fought at Sauchieburn in 1488 and Flodden in 1513, and rose further through a marriage connection to the Douglas family
