About Clan Meldrum
The Meldrums were one of five successive families to hold Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire, by tradition each adding a tower; they held it from 1433 to 1596. George Meldrum of Fyvie married Mary Fleming, one of the 'Four Marys' of Mary, Queen of Scots. The family took its name from the lands of Meldrum, near the town of Oldmeldrum; Meldrum House there, rebuilt in 1836-39, is now a hotel
