About Clan Weir
The Weirs, or de Veres, were a Lanarkshire family. The lairds of Blackwood were heads of the name, and a cadet branch held Stonebyres near Lanark. The earliest recorded Weir is said to be Ralph de Vere, reportedly captured with William the Lion at Alnwick in 1174
