£16.00Clan Farquharson is a Highland clan of Deeside in Aberdeenshire, part of the wider Chattan Confederation, tracing its chiefly line to Farquhar, a descendant of the Shaws of Rothiemurchus. Donald, 4th chief, married Isobel Stewart, heiress of Invercauld, and their son, Finlay Mor, the first Farquharson of Invercauld, was killed as royal standard bearer at the Battle of Pinkie in 1547. Braemar Castle, built in 1628 by John Erskine, Earl of Mar, was sold in 1732 by Mar's Erskine relatives to John Farquharson, 9th Laird of Invercauld, and in 2007 the Invercauld Estate leased it to the Braemar community
