£30.00The name Galbraith comes from the Gaelic gall, 'stranger', and Breathnach, 'Briton', marking the bearer as a Briton rather than a Gael. The early Galbraiths held lands in the Lennox, around Loch Lomond. The clan emerged in the Lennox district straddling the Highland-Lowland line; its first chief is considered to be Gilchrist Bretnach, who married a granddaughter of the first Earl of Lennox and is placed by genealogies around the 1190s
