About Clan Kincaid
Clan Kincaid claims descent from the ancient Earls of Lennox by way of the Galbraiths of Buthernock, with the family name emerging after a Logan married a Galbraith heiress around 1280 and acquired the lands of Kincaid. During the Wars of Scottish Independence, a member of the family reportedly helped recapture Edinburgh Castle from English forces in 1296 and held its constableship for years afterward, an achievement later commemorated in the family's coat of arms. The clan was formally re-established as an independent Scottish clan in 1959, when Alwyne Cecil Kincaid-Lennox was recognized by the Lord Lyon
