About Clan Leslie
By tradition Clan Leslie descends from Bartolf, a Hungarian nobleman who came to Scotland in 1067 and built a castle at Lesselyn in the Garioch, Aberdeenshire, from which the name Leslie comes. Legend links him to the motto 'Grip Fast'.
