£16.00Clan Morrison brings together several historically distinct Scottish families who share the surname, the two most prominent being the Morrisons of Ness on the Isle of Lewis and the Morrisons of Harris, seated on the small island of Pabbay. The Lewis line's name comes from the Gaelic MacGilleMhoire, "son of a servant of (the Virgin) Mary," while the Harris Morrisons descended from a bardic family, the O Muirgheasain, who settled there in the seventeenth century. On Lewis, the Morrisons held the hereditary office of brieve (judge) and were a major regional power, feuding for generations with neighbouring Clan MacLeod, with their last major clash traditionally dated to 1654; their stronghold was the tidal sea-stack fortress of Dun Eistean
