About Clan Shaw

Clan Shaw belongs to the Chattan Confederation and traces its founding to John, second son of Angus, an early chief of Clan Mackintosh, and Eva, heiress of Clan Chattan. According to the Clan Chattan Association, John's grandson, Shaw Mor, led the thirty champions of Clan Chattan to victory in the famous 1396 judicial combat on the North Inch of Perth, and as a reward the family were granted lands at Rothiemurchus near Aviemore. By 1567 these lands had become the property of the Grant family
