About this tartan

Clan Davidson is a Highland clan of uncertain origin, generally linked to the Clan Chattan confederation. One tradition holds that David, son of Donald Dubh Comyn of Invernahavon and a Mackintosh mother, sought his uncle's protection, and his followers became known as Clan Dhai, joining the Chattan federation. The clan's early history was marked by tragedy at the 1370 Battle of Invernahavon, where Davidsons were nearly wiped out after the Macphersons withdrew in a dispute over precedence, souring relations between the two clans for generations
