Don is a Scottish Borders landed family, not a Highland clan in the traditional sense, seated at Newton Don near Kelso in Roxburghshire. The family held a hereditary baronetcy (Baronetage of Nova Scotia) from the 18th century and was linked by marriage to the Earls of Glencairn.
