The story of your tartan
Clan Fletcher's name derives from the Gaelic Mac an Fhleistear, 'son of the arrow maker,' reflecting the clan's traditional trade as hereditary bowmakers, particularly for Clan MacGregor, in Glen Orchy, Argyll. The first recorded chief, Angus Mac-an-leister, was born around 1450. In 1497 the Fletchers joined the Stewarts of Appin and the MacLarens in battle...
