The Halketts of Pitfirrane, near Dunfermline in Fife, held Pitfirrane from the 15th century until 1951. Sir Charles Halket of Pitfirrane was created a baronet in 1662, and Sir Peter Halket, commanding the 44th regiment, was killed near the Monongahela in 1755.
